What We Believe

  • We believe in God the Father, maker of Heaven and Earth.
  • We believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son. He became a man, born of a virgin, was punished for our sins, died as an atoning sacrifice by crucifixion and on the third day rose from the grave. He is now seated in Heaven at the right hand of the Father and will return one day to judge the Earth.
  • We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, who directs us to the Father and Son, and who empowers us to live transformed lives.
  • We believe salvation comes only through Jesus Christ, by confessing our sinfulness, believing in his redeeming work, and accepting Him as Lord of our lives.

The Bible is the Holy and inspired word of God which, when preached, allows God’s will to be heard. We hold to the words in 2nd Timothy, Chapter Three Verse 16 that “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God can be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

Every Christian should bear witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and take part in the evangelisation of the world as the Church prepares – and looks forward to – Christ’s promised coming again into the world. The Church believes it should, in accordance with Scriptures, reach out to others and share the Good News of Jesus, to win their souls for Him and to build them spiritually in Christ. The ministry of the Church extends into the community around it (see the Great Commission in Matthew Chapter 28 Verse 19: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”)

We celebrate Baptism as an act of Christian obedience involving the immersion in water of those who believe in Christ as their saviour. We maintain the Christian Church should enjoy liberty and freedom to interpret and administer God’s laws under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
