What can I expect to find at LBC?

The church aims to be friendly and approachable, with services easily accessible. You will find people from a wide range of different ages and backgrounds attending. Some of us will be on hand specifically to welcome you before the beginning of each service.

What time do I need to arrive on Sundays?

Our Sunday morning service begins at 10.45 am.  This service is livestreamed each week on our own Lerwick Baptist Church YouTube channel, enabling us to include those who are unable to make it to the church in person.

How long does the Sunday service last?

Usually just over an hour, including communion.

Can I bring my children too?

Of course! Part of the morning service is given over to the teaching of youngsters. A Salt Club (Sunday school) activity group is run during the service and there is a crèche for younger bairns as well. Older children are made welcome through a Youth Group which runs during term times after the evening service.

Do you provide any refreshments?

Tea and coffee are served every week along with juice and biscuits – but we hope you will come away spiritually refreshed, too!

Do I need to bring money?

We have two collection points in the church which are used to gather monetary offerings. These go towards the ongoing work that the church carries out and our support of mission and Christian compassion. Many regular attendees give monthly donations by direct debit. Please give as freely as you feel able  – but please don’t feel obliged to pay.

How can I become a member of the church?

Lerwick Baptist Church is open to any person publicly declaring a personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, followed by immersion baptism. A person may be received into membership by baptism or by an officially written transfer of membership from another Christian church.

How can I find out more?
